Changes to Bus, Regional and Interstate Travel Data
We are updating the GTFS Schedule dataset to improve bus and regional trip information so passengers can better plan their journeys and travel on the network.
The General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) Schedule dataset has been updated to:
- Allow better matching between V/Line static data (GTFS Schedule) and real-time data (GTFS-R).
- Add a shortened route name for regional trains to simplify information for open data.
- Update the trip head sign in GTFS trips.txt to show accurate trip destination text for regional trains, coaches and interstate rail
- Improve bus stop information by adding bus and coach stop codes and bay numbers to GTFS stops.txt
What are the passenger benefits?
These changes improve bus, regional train and coach information in open data by adding features already available in DTP digital channels and aligns to changes already applied to metropolitan trains and trams open data.
When will these changes take place?
This update will be released on 15 August.
