Improving the Usability of GTFS Data
Updates to travel information
We’ve made the following changes to the GTFS Schedule dataset:
- Show extended rail and bus route types: providing extended route types to distinguish between Metropolitan, Regional and Interstate Rail, and to distinguish between Metropolitan Bus, Regional Bus and Regional Coach.
- Show bicycle accessibility on rail trips: bicycle accessibility will be shown for all Metropolitan, Regional and Interstate train trips.
- Provide links to Transport Victoria stop information pages: updating hyperlinks for stop information to point to the Transport Victoria website.
- Update the agency name to Transport Victoria: the agency name will be updated from PTV to Transport Victoria.
Key things to note
- There’s a schema change in trips.txt to accommodate the bikes_allowed field (folders 1, 2 and 10)
- There’s a schema change in stops.txt to accommodate the stop_url field (all folders)
