Improving Regional Bus Travel Information

We’ve made changes to GTFS Schedule data

Regional myki bus route information just got better

We are updating the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) Schedule dataset to improve regional bus information so passengers can better plan their journeys and travel on the network.

The GTFS dataset has been updated to:

- Move regional myki town bus line data from Folder #6 to Folder #4. This means that all Metro and Regional myki town bus lines will be in the same location and can be matched to the real-time GTFS-R data.

- All remaining regional bus line data will stay in Folder #6 and continue to be available as is.

- Point the agency URL and agency fare URLs in GTFS agency.txt to the recently updated Transport Victoria website so passengers have the right links to the information they need.

What are the passenger benefits?

These changes will enable real-time information via GTFS-R data for regional myki bus lines for the first time. This will give passengers in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Bacchus Marsh, Seymour, Kilmore, Wallan, Warragul and the Latrobe Valley the details they need to more effectively plan bus journeys on third-party journey planners.

When will these changes take place?

This update was released on Friday 19 September.
