Bus Travel Information Improvements
New Bus GTFS-R data now available
Real-time bus information has been improved so passengers can have better updates on when their next bus is arriving and where it is on the network.
These updated data feeds are now available to all open data users:
- GTFS-R Trip Updates: more additional fields, improved scheduled relationships information (such as when there are added, changed or cancelled services) and changes to StopTimeUpdate fields.
- GTFS-R Vehicle Positions: a new data feed to allow real-time bus locations to be tracked and displayed in journey planning apps.
These data feeds can be accessed as part of the GTFS Realtime datasets on the Transport Victoria Open Data Portal. Please create a portal account and use your API key to access these APIs, there are user guides on our Help and Support page if needed.
